Something Blue & Indulgent

I am more of a splurge on your dress vs shoes kind of gal, but if you end up scoring a great deal on your dress and have some leftover budget for shoes, why not tackle fabulous & something blue all at once! This platform peep-toe pump (Guipure lace with blue satin underlay) satisfies my obsession for all things lace, and all things Oscar. Aren’t they just gorgeous? Love!

Luscious Letterpress

Your save the date is your first chance to set the tone for your wedding and reflect your wedding “brand”. It is such an important step and you want someone both experienced and stylish at the helm with you. My penchant for amazing design is satisfied any time I look at the latest work coming out of Tallow Studio. My super-talented, stylista friend Katharine Navins works with you to custom design gorgeous letterpress invitations. She does save the dates, wedding invitations, shower invitation and has a new expanded nursery collection, inspired by the birth of her son this past summer. Oh and she is as nice as she is talented. How refreshing!!

Everything’s Better On Ice

I’m always on the lookout for stylish, interesting wedding gifts that are also use-able. (this need for usability stems from the fact that we did not have enough space for all the wedding gifts we received in our small city condo and were forced to prioritize). My gift-giving ranges from registry picks to good-ole’ Tiffany and Simon Pearce stand-bys and this year I’d like to raise the bar. My cousin gave me this adorable, custom ice bucket from Iomoi – it can be personalized with the couple’s name, wedding date and wedding location and you can choose from a range of color schemes/designs to match a particular decor or mood. It’s gifts like this that inspire me to venture beyond the registry! This will be the year.

Design Divas

Oct 01 2010

My go-to source for invitations throughout my own wedding planning was Wedding Paper Divas. I used them for both my Save the Dates and Wedding Invitations.

I’ve  also used them countless times for friend’s showers/bachelorette parties, thank you notes etc.  They continue to roll out beautiful, contemporary designs in the richest, most varied color palettes. I love the customization feature so that you can preview your invitation with the actual wording.  Best of all, they offer their designs at the right price! Their turnaround times are also amazing and have saved me in many “yikes, I needed to get these in the mail yesterday” jams.

Say Yes to the Dress!

Sep 23 2010

My absolute favorite part of wedding planning was dress selection! I was overwhelmed by the number of choices but once I zeroed in on the right bridal salon, everything seemed to fall into place and my dress called out to me. I loved wearing it on the day of my wedding and was so sad to pack it away. I wanted a way to keep it with me with a little bit longer, or maybe a while longer. I read an article about Katie Holmes receiving a sketch of her dress from Giorgio Armani as a wedding gift and I thought… this is the perfect idea! I discovered My Dreamlines and the terrific Penny Altman. You send her a few good shots of your dress and she delivers a beautiful pencil sketch for posterity. A great gift idea for anyone but particularly for husbands to give to their new wives. Or as an anniversary gift!
